Are your mobile bases covered?

There is no question that we are in the age of being on-the-go. Who hasn’t left their phone at home and felt as anxious about it as if it had been their wallet or keys? Stuck in traffic, in line at the post office, or have some time to kill at lunch — what’s the first thing you reach for? Yep. Your phone.

That is why it is important to have your business’s mobile bases covered. Sure, you have a snazzy website, but how does it look & perform on mobile devices? Do your users have to zoom in & zoom in & zoom in just to read your address? They don’t have to, if you incorporate a mobile approach within your web site. Is your site built using Flash? Then you’re out of luck, because very few mobile devices support Flash. Your (potential) customers will see a gaping hole of nothingness where there should be useful information.

As far as mobile strategy goes, there are two routes to take.

  1. Scale down: Use your existing site & content to reach your audience in a more user-friendly way. No more zooming in five times, or scrolling in all directions to read a few paragraphs of info. Just easy-to-see, easy-to-read content powered by your existing site. If your site was built correctly to begin with, this is a surprisingly simple method to implement.
  2. Target mobile: Create a second, smaller site that specifically targets the crowd on-the-go. The mobile crowd may not need to or want to read every page on your site from their phone. Cut to the chase, and deliver them the content you most want to know. You can even offer special deals via your mobile site that customers can redeem by showing you their phone in person. And we don’t have to mention how easy it has become for people to share on social media sites in seconds straight from their phone.

There is no shortage of reasons why your business should be reaching out to the mobile audience. It is an obstacle that is easy to overcome and will make you much more accessible to the daily-growing audience.

And as always, feel free to contact us about guiding you into this endeavor.

Soft Launch Sunday

Much thanks to our web team to finding the time between our on-going projects to work on this newly redesigned site. There’s still more on the way but we just couldn’t help but take down the splash page & unleash the beast. So that’s what we did today. Some people turned back their clocks, we softly pushed (it was more of a friendly nudge) this puppy live. It is both a puppy and a beast — a puppy beast, which I’ve just decided is what I’ll be doodling in tomorrow’s production meeting.

Up next: We’ll soon be starting a blog series highlighting some of our clients and some of the rad things they are doing in the areas of local business, music, & general good-doing. And we’ll be sharing some of the personal projects of the BRE staff, who also dabble in some awesomeness in their downtime.

Read along with us, won’t you?
